Since ancient times, weavers created blankets to keep their families warm, to use as shelter, as a symbol of their status and to trade. Even in our technological world, there is nothing much more essential to our basic comfort than a warm blanket or throw on a chilly night.
My blankets are meant to be beautiful but to also honor the timeless tradition of their function—warmth and comfort. I use the highest quality wool yarns from an American mill that still uses older, gentler methods to spin their yarns.
For even greater luxury and beauty, I occasionally hand spin the fleeces of selected sheep on my traditional spinning wheel to weave into extra special blankets. The fiber preparation and spinning takes more than three months, but the yarn has extraordinary life and vitality resulting in a blanket of exquisite character.
